Keywords Analyzer Video

Watch a video on Keywords Analyzer

I have been an enthusiastic user of AdWords Analyzer for some time, but I was recently contacted by Goran Nagy, the author of a new product called Keywords Analyzer. Goran asked me to review his software, warts and all. Well, I have to say Goran, I haven't found too many warts!

So, what is Keywords Analyzer? Like AdWords Analyzer, Keywords Analyzer is a keyword research tool. Most of the functions that Keywords Analyzer does can be done manually using other resources, but the real beauty of software like this is it will automate the process and save you countless hours of research time. You simply enter a keyword, hit a button and Keywords Analyzer will give you:

  • a list of related keyword phrases
  • the number searches performed in the previous month
  • the number of page matches (results)
  • the ratio of searches to results
  • the number of Google AdWord campaigns running for those keywords
  • the number of Overture campaigns

How does this help you?

If you're using Keywords Analyzer for general SEO (Search Engine Optimization) then you only have to look for keywords with a low Results/Searches ratio. These are keywords that have a relatively high number of searches and low number of page matches. In other words they have a favorable Supply/Demand ratio and will be much easier to obtain high search engine rankings on because there is less competition. It's this "digging" for profitable keyword phrases that will put you ahead of the great majority of websites out there.

Keywords Analyzer is also great for researching Google AdWords and Overture campaigns. These are pay-per-click advertising tools that you see on the right side of the page in Google search results, and in "Sponsored" sites in Overture partnered sites such as MSN and Yahoo.

Most AdWords and Overture advertisers simply pick their most relevant keywords and try to outbid everyone else for top placing. Not smart. On pay-per-click advertising you "bid" on your chosen keywords - the higher you bid, the higher you rank. But, if you are bidding on popular keywords the cost per click can go up to several dollars which will very quickly deplete your advertising budget.

The smart way is to use Keywords Analyzer to find keyword combinations that have a low number of AdWords and Overture campaigns. The lower the number, the less you have to bid to achieve high rankings. For AdWords, keywords with less than 8 campaigns mean you can bid the minimum amount (US 5 cents per click) and still appear on the first page of results.

Keywords Analyzer is similar in concept and execution to AdWords Analyzer but adds some useful features such as a separate Keyword window, which you use to browse through all keywords (from all of your searches), and to filter your keywords or export them. The Results window is where results from certain operations can be stored. You can also export the results. Keywords Analyzer also has a better interface with tabbed search results, rather than AdWord Analyzer's separate window for each search, which can get rather messy.

But the one thing that impressed me most about Keywords Analyzer was its author, Goran Nagy. When I first tried Keyword Analyzer I noticed that it did not have a Results/Searches column. When I informed Goran of this I expected an "I'll look into it" response. Instead he got back to me almost immediately to say he'd added the feature. Impressive!

Keywords Analyzer is a thoroughly useful piece of software and reasonably priced. If you use pay-per-click advertising, or want to optimise your website for best search engine results, it's an easy to use tool that should be on your "must have" list. Highly recommended!

Free Keyword Masters Course

Chris Lee from KeywordAnalyzer.com wrote this free one-week course on the importance of keyword focused content. I must admit, when I first downloaded Chris's course I expected rather "dry" technical reading. Instead I discovered an excellent resource. Chris has a marketing background and although by necessity there is some technical content, you will find this course easy to read and full of great advice.

The course covers keyword research, web page optimisation, pay-per-click marketing and much more. This is one of the best free resources I've read in a long time.

Downloading Instructions:

The course is in PDF format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 (or greater) to read it. You probably already have Acrobat Reader installed on your PC, but if not you can download it for free here.

MAJOR UPDATE:

KA has undergone a number of useful updates since I purchased it (registered owners receive free updates) but this latest update (4.18) has moved KA WAY ahead of the competition. What am I talking out?

Google Bids!

Whilst Overture (Yahoo!) bids have some degree of usefulness is is the actual Google Adword bids which will determine what you will be paying for your keywords with AdWords or what you will be earning as an AdSense publisher. For example, as I write this the current top bid (exact phrase) for "Dallas web design" is $27.08 per click. Bad news if you were thinking of running an AdWords campaign. But if you're an AdSense publisher...

On the other hand, "professional web design company" has a top bid of only $0.95. Are you starting to see the potential here? Whether you are an advertiser or a publisher, having access to Google bids is like a license to print money!

This is where KA has left the competition behind. Until now no-one has figured out how to incorporate Google bids into their keyword research tools. Those clever guys Goran and Chris have done it. Well done guys!

UPDATE: KA has now been upgraded to Version 5 Pro (upgrades are free for registered owners). More features. More tools. Still the best. Chris Lee from KA has also added some videos to the site. Watch them!

UPDATE: Now up to Version 7. New, cleaner interface makes KA easier to use. Now shows KEI (Keyword Efficiency Index) as well as R/S ratio. KA remains my choice of keyword analysis tools.
